Canon has just announced its latest addition to the PowerShot series – the PowerShot SX70HS – an all-rounder that has a fixed 65x optical zoom lens, the look and feel of a DSLR and the ability to record 4K video.
This all-in-one device is ideal for the photographer who doesn’t want the hassle of using extra lenses but who still wants to enjoy a wide range of shooting options.
On the back is a vari-angle LCD screen so you can capture stills and video from any angle.
The Canon PowerShot SX70HS is powered by the DIGIC 8 processor which can produce high resolution images, 4K Ultra high definition video and a continuous shooting speed of 10 frames per second.
It also has a superfast autofocus which can adapt even in low light conditions.
Under the hood is a 20.3-megapixel CMOS sensor which offers a 25 per cent increase in resolution when compared to the SX70HS predecessor – the SX60.
Naturally the Canon PowerShot SX70HS can capture sharp JPEG’s but also allows users to capture their pictures in uncompressed RAW format to allow them to explore professional post-production techniques.
Auto Image Sync and Transfer mode makes it easy to sync your images or videos to a smart device or computer.
The device has the classic DSLR-style ergonomics along with a high resolution OLED electronic viewfinder which allows sturdy handling and control when composing your image.
The Canon PowerShot SX70HS 65x zoom extends to an impressive 2730mm equivalent focal length to get right up close to your subject.
With a focal length of this range it is ideal in any situation whether you are on a holiday, at a concert or a graduation ceremony.
The 0cm macro mode also allows users to focus on objects that are virtually touching the lens so you can capture the intricate detail of smaller objects close.
The Canon PowerShot SX70HS will be available from November.
Pricing will be set by resellers at launch but as a guide – the Canon PowerShot SX70HS was priced in the US at $US549 which means it will be in the range of about $AUS800.
