Sony has released the pricing and availability of its new Bravia True RGB TV range, which introduces Sony’s proprietary RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro to achieve the largest colour volume ever in Sony’s home TV history.
Sony’s True RGB TVs include the Bravia 9 II and the Bravia 7 II.
The Bravia 9 II starts at $5,999 for the 65-inch model while the Bravia 7 II is available from 50 inch and above and starts at $2,699.
Sony has reached all the way back to its film studio roots and its mastery in colour reproduction and colour grading from lens to lounge room to deliver the basis of the True RGB’s colour performance.

The new Bravia True RGB TVs precisely control red, green, and blue light sources to deliver accurate colour reproduction and wider viewing angles.
Conventional TVs rely on a single white or blue backlight to produce colour but Sony’s True RGB technology, similar to technology used by other brands, uses dedicated red, green, and blue LEDs for enhanced colour purity and brightness.
Regular displays may suffer a loss of colour depth as brightness levels increase.

This is not an issue with Sony’s True RGB, which has been engineered to maintain rich and accurate colour even in high brightness scenes.
So what the viewer is left with is brighter highlights, better contrast, and a more accurate and life-like image for an even more immersive viewing experience.
“Sony has been advancing LED control for over 20 years from our first independent RGB light sources in the Qualia 005 [2004] through to our flagship Backlight Master Drive. premiering in 2016,” says Michael Bell, Head of Home Entertainment Business Unit, Sony Australia.

“Our new True RGB represents a breakthrough that combines the precision of individually controlled RGB LEDs with the best aspects of both Mini LED and OLED, giving viewers purer colour, higher brightness, and picture accuracy that holds up in any room.”
