Australians spend a lot of time outdoors whether its entertaining guests, tinkering away in our sheds or relaxing. But we also want to stay connected out there, which is why the eero Outdoor 7 mesh router offers a perfect solution.
The device is purpose-built to survive the elements and extend your existing network out into your yard, shed, and entertaining areas.
We’re sure you’ve tried to stream your music near the BBQ or by the pool, work on the patio or set up an outdoor camera only to find your network is just out of reach.
For our review we installed the eero Outdoor 7 mesh router on the wall of our astro shed (where we keep and set up our telescopes) in our backyard.
The device only works with an existing eero mesh network which was already set up at our place.
The eero Outdoor 7 comes with a power supply and a wall bracket and needs to be attached to a wall that’s close to a power point.
For us we attached it to the wall of our shed – just a few metres from the back of the house – and drilled a hole to feed the power cord through.
We plugged it into the power point inside our shed and fed the cord back out to the router.
It then took a matter of minutes to connect the eero Outdoor 7 to the system inside using the eero app so we could expand the coverage well into our backyard.
And it is weatherproof so there’s no problem having it outside in the elements.
We have a decent size yard and eero says the outdoor seven mesh router will cover an area of about 1400 square metres which is equivalent to about five tennis courts.
This added coverage certainly helped in several ways at our place.
The router is capable of wireless speeds up to 2.1 Gbps, which means you can easily stream 4K video outside or take a Zoom call from the granny flat.

And it can handle more than 100 connected devices at the same time so adding more security cameras and maybe a robot lawnmower down the track will not be an issue.
Now even sitting on our back deck and on the grass in the yard, we still have solid coverage and high speeds when connected to the wi-fi network.
We were able to stream some sport and watch it from the comfort of my yard.
It also helped when we set up our telescopes and connected our equipment.
The other great benefit is connecting our smart cameras to the expanded network.
It made a big difference in the speed at which we can view live footage from the existing cameras in the yard and will make it a snap to connect any other cameras we decide to install.
There are many users who invest solid money to create an entertainment space outside and include a TV and speakers so having Eero Outdoor 7 mesh router means connecting and streaming is far easier.
The eero Outdoor 7 Mesh Router is available now and is priced at $729.99 – that might sound expensive but consider it an investment on top of the thousands of dollars you’ve probably already spent improving your outdoor entertainment area.
Another consideration is it can also help improve your home’s security thanks to the ease in which security cameras can be connected.
