Google has unveiled a new Google Home speaker that’s powered by Gemini for Home to make it even more capable and help users with their everyday tasks, control smart home devices and receive richer more contextual answers.
Each purchase of a Google Home Speaker before the 30th of September 2026 will include a free six-month subscription to Google Home Premium.
This unlocks Gemini Live, which allows users to talk to it like a friend to brainstorm ideas and learn new concepts, ask follow-up questions and seek expert advice.
The device has a spherical look that’s available in two colours – Porcelain and Hazel – and is designed to fit into your home’s décor.
The Google Home speaker also highlights Google’s commitment to sustainability with the speaker made from 37 per cent recycled materials and wrapped in an innovative yarn created through a 3D knitting process that minimises fabric waste.
It also offers a visual glow underneath the base, which indicates when Gemini is thinking, listening, and responding.
There is also physical switch to allow you to mute the microphone for guaranteed privacy.
The speaker has also had a huge audio upgrade over the Nest Mini, with a 2x larger driver and 2.5x stronger bass that all comes together to deliver 360-degree uniform audio.
It’s also possible to pair two Google Home speakers with a Google TV streamer to create spatial surround sound.
The Google Home speaker will integrate with existing Nest speakers, Nest displays, and Google Cast-enabled devices so you can easily create a multi-room audio setup.
The Google Home speaker is available to pre-order now for $199 through the Google Store and major local retailers.
