Alcatel has unveiled its 2018 range of sleek, feature-packed and yet affordable smartphones at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona which are sure to attract savvy customers when they are released in Australia.
The company has proven time and time again it can produce top tier features and premium design for an affordable device.
In 2018 is no exception with the latest range of products in its 5 Series, 3 Series and 1 Series delivering an immersive 18:9 display across the entire portfolio.
This is made possible using custom-built displays from Alcatel’s parent company TCL which are ideal to enjoy their entertainment on the move.
The new smartphones will incorporate an all-new facial recognition technology called Face Key.
There will also be improved camera options that will make it easier for users to capture their favourite moments to remember and share in high-quality.
Security will also be given a high priority with Alcatel offering customers regular Android security updates at least every quarter on all its new 2018 devices.
With Alcatel FullView 18:9 displays, users will be able to enjoy more screen real estate on a smaller device that’s easier to hold.
Alcatel’s approach for the 2018 models called for simplicity and an organic industrial design to provide a human centric experience.
And it is this “SIMGANIC” design language which can be seen across the Alcatel 5, 3 and 1 Series products.
ALCATEL 5 SERIES
The Alcatel 5 Series has a flagship look and feel and includes a bezel-less 5.7-inch 18:9 display along with a brushed metallic unibody design and an octa-core processor.
Also on board is a dual lens front camera – 13 megapixel and 5-megapixel with a 120-degree super wide-angle lens and flash.
The camera can intelligently switch from portrait mode to super wide angle mode when it detects more than two faces in the shot.
Social Square allows users to review their recently taken photographs in one half of the screen while the camera viewfinder remains active in the other half so you can keep snapping pictures and see the results at the same time.
The Alcatel 5 also includes Face Key which can break down each facial scan into more than 100 data points to ensure a more accurate match.
The fingerprint sensor on the back panel will not only provide security that can also double as a shutter key for selfies as well as programming different fingers to open different apps.
For example, your index finger can unlock the phone and open Facebook while your pinky finger may open Instagram.
The Alcatel 5 will be priced below $300 when it is released in mid 2018 in Metallic Black and Metallic Gold.
ALCATEL 3 SERIES
Many of the top level features, including the 6-inch Alcatel FullView 18:9 displays, fingerprint sensors and Face Key are included in the Alcatel 3.
There is also contoured edge glass and a curved back so the phone sits comfortably in your hand.
On the camera side, the 3 Series also includes dual rear cameras with the 3V incorporating a 12-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel secondary depth camera with LED flash so you can achieve bokeh effect depth of field images.
The 3X has a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel super wide-angle lens so you can fit even more into each shot.
The Alcatel 3V will be available in Australia in the third quarter of 2018 in Spectrum Black and Spectrum Blue and will be priced at just $199.
ALCATEL 1 SERIES
This is Alcatel’s most affordable lineup starting at under $100.
But even at this low price customers will still have access to the latest technology including that 18:9 display, Social Square for the camera and premium look and feel that belies its affordable price tag.
