Apple’s new iPhone 12 range was unveiled with pricing slightly higher than iPhone 11 but lower for the iPhone 11 Pro. But what many may not realise is that the older iPhone models are still available and have been reduced by as much as $380.
With Apple now not including a charger and earphones with the iPhone, the expectation was for prices to be slightly reduced.
Yes the iPhone 12 Mini is the same price as the iPhone 11 was a year ago but it also has a smaller 5.4-inch display against a 6.1-inch screen in the iPhone 11, but one can argue that the iPhone 12 Mini does have 5G.
The iPhone 12 with a 6.1-inch display – the same size as the 4G iPhone 11 released a year earlier – starts at $1,349 (64GB) against last year’s price of $1,199.
But the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max range is cheaper than last year’s iPhone 11 Pro models.
The iPhone 12 Pro (128GB) is priced at $1,699. Last year’s iPhone 11 Pro with less memory at 64GB was actually more expensive at $1,749.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max (128GB) is $1,849 – cheaper than the iPhone 11 Pro Max (64GB) at $1,899.
At the top end, the iPhone 12 Pro Max (512GB) is priced at $2,369. Last year the 512GB iPhone 11 Pro Max was more expensive at $2,499.
Now if the iPhone 12 is out of your price range then the iPhone 11, the iPhone XR and the iPhone SE are all still available and a lot cheaper as well.
What has helped bring the prices of the older models down is the fact that they, too, will now not come with a charger and earphones.
This makes the boxes a lot smaller and also allows Apple to reduce the price.
The iPhone SE is now priced at $679 (64GB), $759 (128GB) and $929 (256GB) – down from $749 (64GB), $829 (128GB) and $999 (256GB) earlier this year.
The iPhone XR is now priced at $849 (64GB) and $929 (128GB) – down from $1,229 (64GB), $1,299 (128GB) and $1,479 (256GB) at launch two years ago.
The iPhone 11 is now priced at $999 (64GB), $1,079 (128GB) and $1,249 (256GB) – down from $1,199 (64GB), $1,279 (128GB) and $1,499 (256GB) at launch last year.
