Apple has unveiled a new iPad mini which now includes an OLED display along with a thinner and lighter design.
The 8.5-inch iPad mini with OLED display is powered by the new A20 Pro chip and available with a nano texture option.
The iPad Mini goes on sale on November 6 and is priced from $1,099.
Also on board is iPadOS 27 which includes Apple Intelligence and Siri AI which helps make life easier and more efficient while also helping your creativity and productivity.
“iPad mini is beloved for its fantastic portability, performance, and display by a wide range of users, from creators and small business owners to doctors, field service workers, and gamers,” said Dave Pakula, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering.
“With a remarkably thinner and lighter design, a stunning new OLED display, the incredibly powerful A20 Pro, and water and dust resistance, the new iPad mini is a huge leap forward for users who love having the full iPad experience in the palm of their hand.”
The iPad Mini is just 5.4 mm thick and available in midnight and starlight.
And at this size and thickness the iPad Mini is even easier to take with you anywhere for reading and working on the go.
It’s small enough to be used with one hand.
The device also has an IP67 rating, protecting it against water and dust so it can handle being used anywhere.
The iPad Mini has an even larger 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR display but still maintains the same footprint as the previous model, thanks to 24 per cent thinner bezels.
It has a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits, which is more than two times higher than the previous model and supports 600 nits of full-screen brightness for SDR and HDR content with a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
On the performance side the iPad Mini can handle graphics- and AI-intensive tasks.
It is powered by a 7-core GPU with neural accelerators in each GPU core while delivering up to 4.5x faster AI performance than the previous generation.
And the latest graphics architecture empowers better gaming and 3D rendering.
iPad Mini also includes a new acoustic display for better audio performance while gaming, watching videos, and editing content.
There are specially designed woofers paired through the display to produce better bass and more volume.
Custom tweeters are now hidden between the glass and aluminium enclosure for clearer highs.
Also onboard is a 12MP Centre Stage front camera, which is now on the landscape edge of the device, which is perfect for FaceTime calls and video conferencing.
The iPad Mini now includes the N1 chip which improves networking via Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
N1 also improves performance when connected to 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks and improves the performance and reliability of features like AirDrop and AirPlay.
The iPad Mini supports both Apple Pencil USB-C and Apple Pencil Pro for writing, drawing, and taking notes
