Apple has launched the latest generation of the HomePod mini speaker which has support for Siri AI and is available in a range of impressive new colours.
The HomePod mini 2 has enhanced audio with Siri AI coming in a future software update to enable the new and more conversational personal assistant.
It can understand your personal context, has a solid broad world knowledge and works across more apps to bring even more capability to the HomePod mini 2.
HomePod mini 2 will be priced at $229 and will be available in stores on October 30.
It will be available in pink, green, blue, white, and midnight.
“HomePod mini 2 brings together Siri AI, gorgeous new colours, and incredible audio,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Home Product Marketing.
“With Siri AI, it understands you better than ever, drawing on personal context and broad world knowledge to make music discovery even richer.
“It fills a room with sound on its own, which gets even bigger in a stereo pair or with multiroom audio, and when paired with the new Apple TV 4K, it delivers our most immersive home theatre setup yet.
“And with just your voice, HomePod mini makes it easy to securely control your accessories and run automations across the connected home.”
The HomePod mini 2 provides room-filling audio through a single speaker and can be linked with another HomePod mini to create a stereo pair.
And when paired with the new Apple TV 4K, users can connect up to four HomePod mini 2 speakers to create a surround sound system.
When paired with an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone or iPad, the HomePod mini 2 can answer all your questions and tap into your personal context to find out what you need.
It can connect to other apps like Messages and Timers while playing your favourite music.
On the audio side, HomePod mini 2 offers 360-degree sound from its small footprint whether it’s used as a single speaker, in a stereo pair or as a multi-room audio setup.
The new HomePod mini can also be used as a speaker for Mac and expand the sound for your movies and gaming, along with FaceTime and video calls.
One new feature is Sound Glow, which transforms the top of the speaker into a visual canvas that glows and pulses in time with the music.
The song’s album artwork from Now Playing can also create a colour-matched light experience, which means it’s unique to every song.
HomePod mini 2 can control your smart home products including locking and unlocking doors, lowering blinds, and turning off the lights at bedtime.
The HomePod mini 2 is available to pre-order now and will go on sale on October 30 with a price of $229.
Siri AI will not be available for HomePod mini 2 at the time of launch – it will be installed in a future software update.
