Google has just unveiled its new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones along with the all-new Pixel Watch which extends the Google ecosystem even further.
These new devices go on sale in Australia on October 13.
PIXEL 7 AND PIXEL 7 PRO
The new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones are powered by the new Tensor G2 processor and are running the latest Android 13 operating system.
On the design side, the smartphones offer a sleek aluminium enclosure which is completely made of recycled materials.
The Pixel 7 has a 6.3-inch display and is more compact than its predecessor the Pixel 6 while still packing in more features.
The Pixel 7 Pro has a 6.7-inch display and a polished aluminium frame and camera bar that offers a contrast in three colour options: Snow, Obsidian and the new Hazel colour.
These are the first devices to run the new Android 13 experience which offers faster and smarter performance and increased security.
There are numerous features to personalise the device to your taste as well as matching your phones wallpaper to the colour of your device.
Google’s Tensor G2 processor has improved the whole experience and works seamlessly with the nuanced software and machine learning aboard the device to make it even smarter and intuitive than ever before.
The Google Pixel smartphones are famous for their cameras and the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have certainly improved in this department.
The Pixel Pro 7 has a triple rear camera system made up of a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 50-megapixel wide lens and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens.
Aboard the Pixel 7 is a dual camera system with a 50-megapixel wide and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide.
Both new Pixel phones also have a 10.8-megapixel fixed focus ultrawide front facing camera.
And there are plenty of new camera features including Super Res zoom – up to 8x on Pixel 7 and up to 30x on Pixel 7 Pro.
This uses sophisticated computational photography features to achieve similar quality to an actual telephoto lens.
Pixel 7 Pro also has a macro camera which allows you to get as close as three centimetres from your subjects which may include raindrops, flower petals, feathers, bugs and other smaller objects.
The new Photo Unblur feature will allow users to rescue their images including older images that may be on your camera roll.
Photo Unblur not only removes the blur but also reduces visual noise to view it clearer than ever before.
Magic Eraser allows you to easily touch up your photos and remove unwanted objects or people from your images.
On the security side, the new Pixel devices with the Google Tensor G2 chip include the Titan M2 security chip which provides multiple layers of security to maintain your safety.
Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro include a secure under-display fingerprint reader so you can unlock your phone in an instant.
They have also added Face Unlock which uses advanced machine learning models for face recognition to unlock the phone with a glance.
The Pixel 7 will start at $999 and the Pixel 7 Pro from $1,299 when they go on sale on October 13 at the Google Store, JB Hi-Fi, Telstra, Vodafone, Officeworks and Harvey Norman and coming soon to Optus.
PIXEL WATCH
Pixel Watch is Google’s first premium smartwatch which extends the Pixel ecosystem to your wrist and combines the smarts from Google with the Fitbit health and fitness experience.
And it’s all housed in a device that offers a sleek understated design.
Pixel Watch has a circular 41mm wide display under a 3D domed glass display which merges seamlessly into the stainless-steel body to give it a slim look on your wrist.
The device is water resistant and scratch resistant so it can handle being worn every day.
It has a side button and tactile crown which allows users to access shortcuts and navigate to their favourite apps and functions.
Pixel Watch also has a unique band attach mechanism which is like how a camera lens attaches to a camera body.
This makes it easy to change bands anytime you want to transform the look of the watch or match your style and there are 19 watch faces which can be personalised with your favourite colours and the information you need at a glance.
Google’s Pixel Watch is powered by Wear OS by Google 3.5 and has Google Assistant built in so you have help on the go that you can access quickly and hands-free.
The watch provides notifications from Gmail and Google Calendar and allow users to make contactless payments with Google Wallet and even get turn by turn directions with Maps.
Google Pixel Watch integrates Fitbit quite closely to offer health and fitness features including accurate heart rate tracking and sleep tracking.
There are 40 exercise modes that can track your favourite workouts and activities with the built-in GPS.
Pixel Watch is available in two models – a 4G LTE model and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi.
Google Pixel Watch starts at 549 for the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version while the 4G LTE version, which will only work on the Telstra network at this stage, is available for $649.
