Soon when you roll up to a BP station to refuel you’ll be able to enjoy the convenience of paying from the comfort of your own car using the new BPme smartphone app.
An Australian first, BPme will change the way we refuel.
And not only does it offer a faster and easier way to pay, BPme will also allow users to track their odometer, store electronic fuel receipts and find the nearest BP service station.
BPme will be trialed by a group of BP Plus card holders in August before more customers are invited to take part.
The app will be enabled at more than 340 BP sites across Australia by October.
So here’s how it will work.
When the customer drives into the BP station they choose a vacant pump and enter that pump number into the app.
The next step is to choose the type of fuel they want and designate the amount of fuel they want to buy or simply choose to fill the tank.
The final step is payment which will come from a linked credit card.
Once payment is made, the customer will see the amount of fuel they purchased in litres and the amount they paid before they drive off.
“Providing a simpler and faster way to fill up, BPMe will allow customers to enjoy the best possible refueling experience by giving time back and conveniently making payment from the comfort of their own vehicle,” said BP’s vice president, sales and marketing, Brooke Miller.
“Smartphone penetration rates in Australia are some of the highest in the world and mobile payment solutions are what our customers have been demanding. It’s the way of the future and BP is at the front of this innovation.
“We recognise the importance of mobile and card-less payments to this customer base and we understand the need for faster transaction times and easier payment processes.
“Ultimately, we’re giving time back to our customers by delivering a faster way to refuel.”
