There were a lot of robots at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this year and a standout was Mirokai that is designed to be of service.
Mirokai, created by Enchanted Tools, isn’t trying to look human like a lot of other robots at the show but is instead embracing the fact it is a character and it looks different.
It has display that acts as the Mirokai’s face and allows it to share many expressions and emotions.
The robot itself is mobile can move around easily on its ball tread. It has a number of 3D sensors and has a high spatial awareness.
It can also respond to gestures. If you wave it will wave back – if you out your fist it will give you a fist bump.
Mirokai can be used as a greeter in a store or a building or in a retail environment to assist customers.
There are other use cases like being used as a hospital assistant.
Mirokai can pick and carry objects.
In a store Mirokai can go off and fetch and item a customer has asked for and bring it to them.
In a hospital or other service centre, Mirokai can also work in the same way and collect inventory and bring to the desired location.
In the future, you could be greeted by a robot like Mirokai when you visit a store, shopping centre or building.
