The Jackery Explorer 1500 Ultra portable power station is the electricity equivalent of a spare tyre. When you’re off the grid of suffering a blackout this new portable power station can come to the rescue.
The Jackery Explorer 1500 Ultra has a 1536Wh battery capacity and offers up to 3600W peak output.
This means it’s ideal for camping and weekend escapes but also useful for tradies, outdoor workers and DIY enthusiasts.
It can also be used as a home back up during outages so you can keep vital appliances like refrigerators, computers and routers running during a blackout.
We’ve used the Jackery Explorer 1500 Ultra in many ways at home and on the road.
We’ve used it to recharge our mobile devices and keep the fridge powered during a brief blackout.
It also came in handy during our astrophotography sessions which are usually taking place in areas where there is no access to power.
This way we can power the telescope mount and all the peripherals required to run our astro shooting sessions.
The portable power station has enough juice to recharge a drone 16 times, to run an electric blanket for 48 hours and to recharge your camera 68 times.
The most recent use was for our Two Blokes Talking Tech special episode, filmed at the Amazon Fulfilment Centre out in Kemp’s Creek in Western Sydney.
We used the Jackery Explorer 1500 Ultra to power the Rodecaster deck and the connected microphones.
It was also used to power the four cameras and monitor.
This was important because we chose to film in an open space on the warehouse floor where power was only accessible through a very long extension cord.
With the Jackery Explorer 1500 Ultra we were able to have the power right where we were recording the podcast.
The Jackery Explorer has two AC 230V outputs, a 30W USB-C output, a 100W USB-C output and an 18W USB-A output. It also has a 12V DC output.
The unit weighs 17.5 kg – and that’s actually the lightest IP65 power station in its class. Other similar power stations are nearly twice as heavy.
The Jackery Explorer 1500 Ultra is also a rugged unit made with titanium alloy that offers both strength and lightness.
The battery inverter thermal architecture seals and protects the battery while maximising cooling efficiency.
It also offers sufficient ventilation to make sure airflow is directed vertically through a turbine fan for improved heat exchange while the metal housing optimises heat transfer and moisture evaporation.
It has an IP65 rating (that’s the highest dust and waterproof rating) along with the IPX5 level water protection so it can handle heavy rain and water splashes.
But on top of that is a level 9 shock resistance so it can handle a one-metre drop.
It’s been constructed with a dual-layer PMMA and polycarbonate for scratch and impact resistance.
Under the hood are EV-grade LFP battery cells that can maintain up to 70% battery health even after 4,000 charge cycles.
Fast charging is powered by Jackery’s exclusive ChargeShield 2.0 technology, which offers faster yet safer charging.
The unit can be fully recharged in as little as 1.5 hours.
There is also support for up to 800W of solar input and it can be fully recharged via solar panels in as little as 2.5 hours.
The Jackery Explorer 1500 Ultra is available now and is priced at $2,299. But we have seen it priced at the discounted price of $1,599 during the Prime Day sales event.
