Muse the brain-sensing band can help calm your mind and manage stress

muse3Muse is a new brain-sensing headband that can be used to help manage stress with games and exercises designed to promote calm and focus.

The device has 7 electroencephalography (EEG) sensors – five on the forehead and two behind the ears – and can detect and measure brain activity in the same way a heart rate monitor can measure your heart rate.

The information obtained by the Muse headband is relayed via Bluetooth to your tablet or smartphone.

With the companion app, Muse allows users to see and hear how their brain is functioning.

The Muse brain-sensing headband

It can notice five different types of brainwaves:

* Delta waves which are most present during sleep.

* Theta waves which are associated with sleep, very deep relaxation, and visualization.

* Alpha waves which occur when relaxed and calm.

* Beta waves which occur when, for example, actively thinking or problem-solving.

* Gamma waves which occur when involved in higher mental activity and consolidation of information.

If you’re feeling stressed it will be easily noticeable and Muse can give you training exercises to help calm your mind and regain your concentration.

The device works with iOS and Android devices along with computers running Max OS X 10.8 and Windows 7 and 8.

Muse can send the information it detects to a smartphone or tablet

Muse is powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery that can run for up to four and half hours on a full charge.

There is real-time coaching and feedback during each exercise and game through the connected app.

Muse is designed to teach users how to calm their mind and discover a stronger ability to maintain focus.

And the more you use it, the more relaxed you’ll feel to help you stay composed in stressful situations.

It only takes a few minutes to use Muse to help reduce stress and increase focus

The ability to relax our minds and concentrate has been a lost art since the dawn of the information age and 24/7 access to the latest information and news.

Muse takes as long as it would be to drink a cup of coffee and can be used at the start of the your day to get you in the right frame of mind or at the end of the day to help you unwind.

Muse is available now to pre-order and will ship by mid-year. The device is priced at $US269 plus shipping and can be ordered from the Muse website.
