Samsung has unveiled two new smartwatches – the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Watch 9 – designed to offer effortless health monitoring and unlock insights and in-depth wellness information.
The devices are thinner and lighter, making them even easier to be worn 24/7.
On the performance side the watches are now powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite platform.
They also feature the largest battery and the brightest displays ever seen on a Galaxy Watch.
The new Samsung watches offer AI-driven health intelligence that can transform health insights into actionable and personalised guidance.
Among the new capabilities is Samsung’s advanced preventative care vision that combines everyday data with years of clinical research conducted with world-renowned universities and medical institutions.
The watches can deliver more meaningful and accurate health guidance across its main pillars, which include sleep, activity, cardiovascular health and recovery.
“We believe AI’s most meaningful impact is helping us live healthier lives. Healthcare should be preventive so that people can manage their health in an effortless, continuous and deeply personalised way,” said TM Roh, Chief Executive Officer, President and Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “The new Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 represent a massive leap forward in realising Samsung’s health vision.
“By continuously tracking health data from the wrist, these new watches help to act as a vigilant health companion, turning daily vital signs into proactive, actionable insights and providing timely alerts.”
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and the Watch 9 are available for preorder from July 23 and will go on sale on August 14.
SAMSUNG GALAXY WATCH ULTRA 2 – $1,299
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is the most powerful and advanced Galaxy Watch ever built.
It can handle extreme outdoor activities thanks to its rugged design and long-lasting performance.
The battery onboard the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 has an 800 mAh capacity – that’s a remarkable 35 per cent capacity increase over the previous Ultra model.
The expanded display is the world’s first 5000nit ever seen on a smartwatch to offer pure and clear visibility even in direct intense sunlight.
And despite all these improvements its titanium casing achieves an even slimmer design.
The internal re-engineering has reduced the device’s thickness by 12 per cent compared to the previous model.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 has tracking modes for outdoor sports to help them push themselves to their limit and reach their fitness goals.
The exclusive trail run feature offers information about elevation, climbing progress, and terrain impact so you can pace yourself and reduce the risk of injury.
Another new feature is real-time hydration guidance through Nutrition Alert.
This is a new feature which runs alongside the sweat loss feature to provide guidance on how much you need to hydrate based on your sweat loss relative to your body weight.
The Water Resistant Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is also an EN13319 certified diving instrument and is rated IP69K and 10ATM.
As soon as the watch hits the water, it tracks real-time diving data, including depth, time, and water temperature, right there on your wrist.
Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is available in a 47mm size in Titanium Silver and Titanium Grey.
SAMSUNG GALAXY WATCH 9 – From $649
The Samsung Galaxy Watch9 is designed to be your everyday health companion, tracking your health and wellness and helping users build healthier habits.
The device has a new more comfortable design thanks to its lightweight but tough aluminium casing.
The Galaxy Watch9 also comes with soft touch bands for all-day comfort that enables continual 24/7 wear.
On board is a 390 mAh battery for around-the-clock wear and tracking day and night.
It also boasts a 3000 nit display so it’s easier to read in every lighting condition.
The Galaxy Watch9 is available in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm, and is available in graphite and cream, while the 44mm model is available in graphite and silver.
Among the insights is Vitals which proactively monitors your personal health baseline while you sleep while the Daily Cardio Load can provide tailored guidance on your workout to tell you whether you need to take it easy or push yourself even harder.
“Today we’re launching two distinct wearable options – designed to help Australians meet their health and fitness goals – no matter what they are,” says Kylie Mason, Head of Wearables, Mobile eXperience, Samsung Electronics Australia.
“Whether you’re looking to beat a personal best, or just stay active, the Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2 enables advanced, proactive health tracking to give Australians the tools they need for their journey.”
