Sony unveils Master Series of 4K HDR TVs for unprecedented picture quality

Sony has launched a new Master Series of 4K HDR televisions that will deliver a whole new level of picture quality using the company’s multiple proprietary technologies.

The new A9F and Z9F make up the Master series and include the next generation Picture Processor X1 Ultimate which provide picture quality that is the equivalent of a professional- grade monitor used in a motion picture production.

Sony’s goal with the new flagship Master Series is to deliver the highest possible picture quality for home viewers.

Sony has the advantage of being the only consumer electronics manufacturer which is involved in all stages of film production from the lens to lounge room.

And it has taken this long history and expertise to develop the Picture Processor X1 Ultimate to deliver the most faithful picture in the Master Series.

Sony has collaborated with Netflix colour scientists to introduced Netflix Calibrated Mode so the TV can mirror the same picture quality as a studio Master monitor and preserve the director’s original vision.

The Sony Master Series is also CalMAN ready – this is the industry’s leading display calibration software and used by professionals to ensure quality control for content creators in broadcast production and post-production.

The Sony A9F is an OLED TV which has Pixel Contrast Booster on board which maximises the dynamic range by widening the area of colour reproduction at high brightness.

The result is an enhanced picture with extra detail and texture.

The TV also incorporates Acoustic Surface, first introduced with the A1 Series, so the sound actually appears to be coming from the screen.

The Sony Z9F incorporates the new X-Wide Angle to ensure picture quality is maintained regardless of the viewing angle.

Also under the hood is X-Motion Clarity to minimise motion blur without sacrificing brightness or detail.

Both TVs are also running the Android TV 8.0 Oreo operating system which allows for hands-free voice search to find information and content.

The A9F and Z9F Master Series televisions will be released in Australia in October. Pricing is yet to be announced.
