Barely a month after launching its flagship Galaxy S series of smartphones, Samsung has now turned its attention to the affordable end of the market with the release of its impressive Galaxy A series of devices.
There are five new Samsung Galaxy A smartphones with the Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G the new stars of the show.
These affordable stylish and slim devices are powered by a brand-new processor and feature the Galaxy’s signature AI camera along with a large bright display and up to two-day battery life.
The Galaxy A smartphone range includes the Galaxy A13 4G ($329), the Galaxy A23 4G ($399), the Galaxy A33 5G ($599), the Galaxy A53 5G ($699) and the Galaxy A73 5G ($799).
“With the new A Series range we have a family of high-spec devices priced from just $329 to $799,” said Garry McGregor, Vice President, Mobile Experience Division, Samsung Electronics Australia.
“There’s really no weak link in this family. And with the rise in a value-conscious mindset and customers who want a reliable and premium device without the premium price tag, A Series delivers.”
“We’ve seen consistent demand for the A Series segment since its launch in 2018, with over 1m units sold in 2021 and 2022 looks to be big too.
“A Series provides the Galaxy experience. One in four A Series’ customers join from other smartphone brands, and we’ve also seen consumers upgrading devices within the A Series range or leapfrogging to our premium S Series range after experiencing all that Galaxy has to offer.”
McGregor says the $699 Galaxy A53 5G is pound for pound one of the best mid-tier smartphones on the market.
The Galaxy A53 5G has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate while the Galaxy A33 5G includes a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display at 90Hz.
On the design side, the new Galaxy A series have sleek looks and slim bezels and feature tough Corning Gorilla Glass and IP67 water and dust resistance.
The Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G both have quad camera systems which are powered by AI to produce stunning images, including low light photography.
The Galaxy A33 5G has an ultra-wide 8-megapixel camera, a main 48-megapixel camera, a 2-megapixel depth camera and a 5-megapixel macro camera.
Meanwhile the A53 5G’s camera system is made up of an ultra-wide 12-megapixel camera, a main 64-megapixel camera, a 5-megapixel depth camera and 5-megapixel macro camera.
The devices have inherited the S Series Night Mode which can make your night images and videos look better and brighter with less noise.
Other features include Portrait Mode to outline your subject against a blurred background, Fun Mode which allows you to apply cool filters, Photo Remaster helps you enhance old and low quality images and Object Eraser which can remove background objects from your images.
All of the devices have micro SD card slots to expand the memory up to 1TB along with 5,000mAh battery capacity which provides enough power for up to two days before you need to reach for the charging cable.
Speaking of charging, the Galaxy A series of smartphones also includes 25W super-fast charging capabilities.
The Galaxy A53 5G will go on sale on April 1 with the Galaxy A33 5G available from April 22.
The Galaxy A73 5G will also be offered from April 22.
Customers who pre-ordered the Galaxy A53 5G from the Samsung online store and participating retailers, will receive a pair of Galaxy Buds2 earphones valued at $219.
