Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy S5 smartphone has gone on sale today globally with Australia getting the jump on the rest of the world.
In fact, the very first Galaxy S5 sold in the world was from the Samsung Experience Store in George St in Sydney to a Vodafone customer.
The device will offered outright for $929 or on a plan across all operators – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 5.1-inch full high definition Super AMOLED display and has a fingerprint reader embedded in the home button which can store up to three fingerprints.
The fingerprint functionality has also already been approved to authorise in-store PayPal payments.
The new device is also fully waterproof and dustproof so it can handle all conditions.
Under the hood is a 2.5Ghz quad core processor and is running the new Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat operating system.
The camera has also been improved with 16-megapixel resolution along with battery saving mode to extend the usage of the device on a single charge.
There are also health apps built into the Galaxy S5 as well as a heart rate monitor which is built next to the camera’s flash.
Simply hold the device with your finger resting on the monitor which glows red when in use and you can see your current heart rate in the screen.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is available to buy outright for $929 or on a plan through Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile.
