Apple has delivered a solid upgrade with the new iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro which feature an upgraded design, improved camera systems, better performance and all-day battery life.
The iPhone 17 Pro is made of aluminium and features the first iPhone unibody design with a completely re-engineered architecture to fit a new thermal system and the biggest battery ever included in an iPhone.

The iPhone 17 has a contoured edge design and, like the iPhone 17 Pro, is coated with Ceramic Shield 2 to make it 3x more scratch resistant then last year’s iPhones.

iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro will come pre-loaded with the new iOS 26 which features new Liquid Glass design.
The iPhone 17 is available in five colours: Lavender, Sage, Mist Blue, White and Black and starts at $1399.

The iPhone 17 Pro Is available in three finishes – Silver, Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue and starts at $1,999.
Both are available for pre-order on September 12, 2025, and will go on sale on September 19, 2025.
iPHONE 17 PRO, iPHONE 17 PRO MAX
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max has had a slight redesign and features a larger camera plateau on the rear panel to accommodate an updated camera system and make room for a new thermal cooling system along with the biggest battery Apple has fit inside an iPhone.
The forged plateau is also where you will find the antennas to offer improved wireless connectivity.
The devices have a 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display which is covered with Ceramic Shield 2 and offering up to 3000 nits of peak outdoor brightness.
The screens have adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

Under the hood is Apple’s A19 Pro chip with a 6-core CPU – the fastest CPU in any smartphone – and a 6-core GPU.
There is a new Apple-designed vapour chamber to provide heat dissipation and enhanced performance and faster Apple Intelligence processing.
On the camera side, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max include Apple’s best ever camera system which are the equivalent of having eight pro lenses in your pocket.
There are three 48-megapixel fusion cameras which can take your photography and video capture to an all new level.
The new 48-megapixel telephoto camera includes a tetraprism design with a 50 per cent larger sensor to improve performance in bright light and bring more detail to darker images.
It has 4x optical zoom at 100mm while the 8x optical zoom at 200mm is the longest ever on iPhone to allow for more reach and more creative choices.
iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max introduce a new Centre Stage front camera that includes a square front camera sensor for a wider field of view and higher resolution at up to 18 megapixel photos so you’re capturing even more detail.
Users can take photos and videos in portrait or landscape while still holding their iPhone vertically.
And for group selfies, the Centre Stage camera uses AI to detect more people in the frame and expand the field of view.
The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro Max also includes new powerful video features like Dolby Vision HDR recording, 4K120FPS, ProRes Log and support for ACES.
It is now the first smartphone to support ProRes RAW, Log 2 and genlock – a technique used to synchronise video across multiple cameras and inputs.

The iPhone 17 has a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with Ceramic Shield 2 to make it tougher than any other smartphone glass.
The display has even thinner borders and includes ProMotion with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

The phone is powered by the A19 chip built on third generation 3nm technology with 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU.
Apart from performance, the A19 chip also delivers advanced power management and efficiency which gives the iPhone 17 up to 30 hours of video playback – that’s 8 hours more than the iPhone 16.
The iPhone 17 has dual 48-megapixel rear cameras for the first time with a 48-megapixel Fusion main camera with an integrated 2x telephoto which is like having two cameras in one.
The new 48-megapixel Fusion ultra-wide camera offers up to 4x the resolution compared to the previous generation to allow for more detail, wide angle shots and macro photography.
On the video side, the iPhone 17 can record in 4K 60fps Dolby vision.
iPhone 17 also includes the new Centre Stage front camera which offers up to 18-megapixel selfies.
Its square sensor means users can now take photos and videos in portrait or landscape while holding their phone vertically which offers a more comfortable and secure grip.
