The LG Signature OLED T Transparent TV was once again the star of the show at the LG stand at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show and the great news is that is definitely coming to Australia in the first half of 2025 – but it won’t be cheap.
We looked around the LG booth at CES and the LG Transparent OLED was the centrepiece of the stand.
LG created a massive chandelier made up of 28 transparent OLEDS that open and close and change from being clear to like stained glass windows.
While it is virtually the same TV from last year, LG says this year is different because this is the year it will definitely be going on sale.
Last year LG said the Signature OLED T Transparent TV was a prototype but this time the rubber is going to hit the road with customers being able put down their money in the first half of 2025.
But how will it be?
We were told it will be about the $A80,000 mark.
But consider who would purchase this TV would be someone with a stunning view that they don’t want spoiled with a regular TV.
A wealthy homeowner with extensive use of Sydney Harbour would be able to place the LG Signature OLED T Transparent TV in front of a window and enjoy the picture and sound quality.
But when it’s turned off, they can literally look straight through it without ruining their view.
Also on the LG stand was the Stanby Me 2 – a follow up to the screen on wheels.
This time, the unit is still on wheels but the 27 inch screen can detach from the stand and be carried around the home with a handle or rest on a surface on a stand.
Also on the booth we found examples of LG’s affectionate intelligence – that’s the company’s warm and fuzzy approach to AI which is meant to be helpful and approachable.
Their booth was arranged in such a way as to illustrate how AI could be used throughout the entire day by a customer.
We did spot a small AI companion which looked like a speaker with an attached display showing an expressive cartoon face.
The unit has a camera as well so can see you and your surroundings and even tell what sort of mood you’re in.
For example, it might detect that you may not have had the best night’s sleep and investigate ways of improving that.
