Netatmo is already well-known for its smart home devices and it has just added to its portfolio with the new Smart Video Doorbell which allows you to see who’s at your front door, and talk to them, from anywhere.
And it is the first doorbell compatible with Apple HomeKit so it can be controlled using the Apple Home app or with your voice using Siri.
When someone is at your door, users will receive a rich notification or you can simply ask Siri to show you who’s at the front door.
It’s also possible to create automations within the home app, like turning on a light if the Smart Video Doorbell detects a person.
Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell has a built-in camera and speaker so you can see your visitor and speak to them whether you are upstairs or on the other side of the world.
The product is ideal to accept packages when you’re not home, welcome guests without having to come to the front door and turning away annoying salespeople.
The Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell is fully resistant to all weather conditions as well as dust and dirt.
It also has person detection and can notify users that someone is lurking near the door even if they don’t press the doorbell.
A video of the event is also recorded and can be viewed remotely on the Netatmo companion app.
The Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell has a full high definition camera onboard and a 160-degree field of view.
The camera’s HDR (high dynamic range) functionality can also handle sudden changes in light to keep the image clear which means visitors faces will be easily visible even in direct sunlight.
And it is just as clear at night thanks to the built-in infrared night vision so you’ll be able to spot visitors even in complete darkness.
The Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell does not have a built-in rechargeable battery and requires electrical wiring.
Users can access the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell from the Netatmo Security app on a smartphone, tablet, Mac, PC and Apple Watch.
Videos and call history are stored locally on an internal microSD card and therefore requires no subscriptions and doesn’t use valuable data because it doesn’t need to upload to a cloud service.
The Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell will be available in Australia in the second half of 2019.
