LG introduces V50 ThinQ 5G smartphone which can support two screens and the sleek G8 ThinQ

LG has introduced two new devices at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona – the LG V50 ThinQ 5G device and the LG G8 ThinQ – which are designed to suit a broad range of users.

The LG V50 ThinQ is LG’s first 5G smartphone and will be available first to Telstra customers in the first half of 2019. It’s also capable of supporting a second screen.

The LG G8 ThinQ combines style and function with a sleek design and a number of innovative features.

LG V50 THINQ

The 5G device has a 6.4-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision Display which has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio which the right size and shape for content and games.

LG’s 5G smartphone, which is just 8.3mm thick, has an impressive camera with a Video Depth Control in the front and rear cameras to keep moving objects in focus.

On the audio side, there’s the aptXHDaudio technology that improves Bluetooth audio quality and provides low latency for an immersive listener experience.

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem.

Under the hood is a 4000mAh battery – that’s 20 per cent larger than the V40 – along with a vapor chamber to keep internal temperatures down.

But the LG V50 ThinQ has a unique accessory – a Dual Screen case that adds a second 6.2-inch display which allows users to multitask and enjoy dual screen games.

For example, you could be watching a movie on one screen while looking up IMDB on the other.

LG V8 THINQ

The device has a 6.1-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision Display with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 and a 564ppi (pixels per inch).

It has a minimalist look with a zero protrusion rear camera.

The device’s OLED screen also doubles as the phone’s speaker and uses the display as a speaker diaphragm.

LG’s G8 ThinQ introduces new security technology – and it’s not a fingerprint.

The device uses palm vein authentication which identifies owners by recognising the shape, thickness and other individual traits of the veins in the palms of your hand.

Users simply place their pre-registered hand in front of the front-facing camera to unlock the device.

The onboard Z Camera can not only capture great images but it can also recognise gestures so users can answer the phone, take screenshots, switch between apps and adjust the volume – all without touch the phone.
