Microsoft unveils new AI-powered Bing search engine and Edge browser

Microsoft has unveiled a new Bing search engine and Edge browser which adds the power of AI to offer a new standard of search, browsing and chat into a single platform.

Microsoft has already invested $10b with OpenAI – the creators of chat GPT – and is taking that AI to offer the system to provide better search results, deeper and more comprehensive answers and the ability to generate content.

On the search side, the new Bing will offer an improved search experience with more relevant results including things like stock prices, the weather, sports scores and new sidebar that will offer more comprehensive results if you want them.

We often use search engines to ask questions and Bing will examine results across the internet and provide a summary for the answer you’re looking for.

For example, if you’re looking to substitute eggs for another ingredient in a cake you’re making, Bing will offer detailed instructions instead of having to scroll through multiple results or recipes.

There will also be a new chat experience when making more complex searches.

So whether you’re looking for a new smartphone, researching a new TV to buy or planning a trip, the new Bing will provide an interactive chat experience with the ability to refine your search until you find what you’re looking for along with links so you can act.

The new Bing is not just about searching.

You can also create content whether it’s writing a thank you note, an email or your next vacation’s itinerary.

The Edge browser has also been updated with AI capabilities and a new design along with the addition of new functionalities like chat and compose.

The new Bing is available now in a limited preview.
