Astrophotography takes a bit of work to master plus a whole lot of gear before you can get any good at it. Imagine if there was an all-in-one automated solution that produces amazing results. We found it – it’s called Hyperia.
On display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas recently, Hyperia is a smart personal observatory that produces stunning results.
Hyperia is both a telescope and an automated mount in one.
The telescope has a 150mm aperture with f/4 focal ratio which makes the unit more compact yet more capable when it comes to drawing light into the lens.
The automated mount has a direct drive system for precise frictionless movement.
The design of Hyperia is also minimal.
Usually an astrophotography set up has a lot of cables connecting the telescope and mount and camera.
But not so with Hyperia – there is not a cable in sight.
The unit weighs 35kg and stands 180cm tall. It is made from durable aluminium alloy.
The telescope has a 600mm focal length and an optical design that combines 17 lenses.
Vaonis, the company behind Hyperia worked with Canon on the project utilised its experience with lenses and photography.
On the camera side, Hyperia can take up to 30-minute exposures with super accurate tracking.
The unit can handle all kinds of conditions with IP64 water and dust resistance. It comes with a five year guarantee.
Hyperia also connects via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cables so it can be operated in any environment.
And we saw some of the results – the shots were stunning.
The unit can not only take the long-exposure pictures but also stack the images to produce remarkable sharp shots.

Now that all sounds great but Hyperia is now cheap.
It will set you back around $US100,000.
We were told Hyperia is the sort of product a school or a university would purchase to benefit its students.
But that’s not stopping wealthy astrophotography fans investing in the remarkable tech.
Preorders are now open with deliveries beginning in early 2027.
