It’s not often that flooring is considered a tech product but in the case of this Shinobi Floor it most definitely is.
The flooring system, which was on display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, has been created by a Japanese company Magic Shields.
It is designed to offer walking stability and, in the case of a fall, remarkable shock absorption.
It uses patented flooring technology which demonstrates advanced shock absorption to reduce the risk of injury from falls.
When it detects an impact, the special material disperses the force of the impact to prevent injury.
The flooring was deployed in more than 600 hospital’s and facilities in Japan and, according to Magic Shields, there were the same number of falls but there no broken bones reported thanks to the Shinobi Floor being deployed.
It is ideal for hospitals and retirement homes where falls are the leading cause of injuries among adults over the age of 65.
According to the Institute on Ageing – 1 in 10 falls results in serious injury including broken hips, subdural hematomas and brain injuries.
With Shinobi Flooring the risk of injury from falls is greatly reduced and can also reduce liability against insurance costs.
