Grand Slam tennis champion Ash Barty surprised a few people on their doorsteps in Brisbane this week when she teamed up with Amazon Flex to deliver a few parcels in the busy holiday season.
The former tennis ace spent a day as an Amazon Flex delivery driver and some people thought all their Christmases had come at once when Ash Barty appeared at their front door bearing their Amazon packages.
Naturally she was stopped for selfies and group photos when delighted customers saw the Aussie champion at their door.

“It was a lot of fun. My first day with a real job,” Ash Barty told Tech Guide.
“Being able to go out there and get in the car and be an Amazon delivery partner was, was really nice.
“It was nice just to spend time with some everyday Aussies.”

Barty was paired up with a Brisbane-based Amazon Flex delivery driver Graham Henry who was helped guide her along the way.
“I started delivering with Amazon Flex because the flexibility allows me to get extra earnings around my family commitments – I can pick up delivery blocks when it suits me and know exactly what I’ll earn upfront,” he said.

“Joining Ash on her deliveries and getting to see her experience firsthand how fulfilling it can be, was incredible.
“She brought the same focus and enthusiasm to delivering packages as she did to
tennis.”
Was it what she expected?
“I think it was it was a little bit different. Obviously, the process that you go through is very structured and efficient,” Barty says.
“When you’re home, waiting for a delivery box, you don’t really understand what goes on behind the scenes.
“Being on the other side and being able to deliver those packages was really nice to be able to appreciate both sides.
“I have had plenty of Amazon boxes turn up on my doorstep.

“Knowing how quickly they can turn them around and from when you do click order to when they do happen to turn up on your doorsteps – it was amazing to see the process behind that.”
On the court, Ash Barty was known for her work ethic and willingness to leave everything out on the court.
She says Amazon Flex can suit people of all walks of life and all ages.
“The concept of Amazon Flex is an opportunity for everyday Aussies, whether you’re a mum or semi-retired,” she says.
I think the beauty of Amazon Flex is it can work into your schedule.
“And that’s something that’s really appealing to a lot of people and works with so many different lifestyles.
“You can be early in the morning, it can be while the kids are at school, it can be late in the evening.
“It’s nice to know that it kind of works for everyone. It’s an opportunity for everyone to be able to get involved.”
Amazon Flex allows everyday Australians to deliver Amazon packages in their own cars at a time that suits them.
Drivers can lock in delivery blocks up to a week in advance and will know exactly how much they will earn upfront and are paid weekly.
