Working from home requires a few products and one thing that can help with that set-up is being able to physically connect them together and that’s where Satechi’s Aluminium Monitor Stand for iMac and the USB-C Pro Hub come into play.
Setting up a home workstation involves connecting a laptop perhaps with a larger external monitor and a desktop computer with a second monitor.
But there’s also a need to connect USB-C devices and transfer data, to charge these devices, read memory cards and also connect through regular USB ports.
SATECHI ALUMINIUM MONITOR STAND HUB FOR iMAC – $139
This product elevates your iMac closer to eye level, creates a small storage space underneath and presents you with USB-C ports and memory card slots.
It’s made of the same brushed aluminium and has the same finish as the iMac stand so it perfectly matches the machine.
The ports are housed in a black panel flush with the front of the stand so they are easy to access.
There is a USB-C port capable of up to 5Gbps data transfer, along with three USB 3.0 ports, a microSD card slot and an SD card slot.
It connects with one cable to the iMac’s USB-C on the rear panel to provide these ports in front of the computer.
It also ships with an USB Type A to Type C adaptor in case your iMac doesn’t have a USB-C port or a spare USB-C port.
Now you have access to ports that can organise, connect and charge your devices.
SATECHI USB-C PRO HUB WITH 4K HDMI & THUNDERBOLT 3 – $149
If you’re MacBook Pro user, the Satechi USB-C Pro Hub can really open up your options.
The device has a dual USB-C connection but gives you two back (one of these is a Thunderbolt 3 port) along with two USB 3.0 ports and a 4K HDMI port and a SD card and microSD card reader slots.
It utilises the MacBook pros USB C power delivery port for passthrough charging as well as quick data transfer at up to 40Gbps.
The second USB-C port can support up to 5Gbps data transfer.
But this second port does not support passthrough charging for the MacBook Pro – for that you’ll need to use the Thunderbolt 3 port.
On the video side you can enjoy up to 5K video output or connect a second 4K screen.
Simply connect the HDMI cable from the pro hub adapter to your external monitor.
The Satechi products are available now from JB Hi-Fi.
