Kindle has revealed its top reads for 2025 with Australians embracing e-reading and turning more than 1.6 billion pages a month. And our favourite genre? Romance still leads the way followed closely by fantasy and suspense. Kindle’s Year in Reading report showed Australian Kindle customers consumed an average of more than 1.6 billion pages per month in 2025. Gen, the company behind internet security leader Norton, says Australia has become one of the world’s biggest targets for AI driven scams. In its Q4 Gen Threat Report, it was revealed Australians are increasingly being tricked with scams delivered through ads, shopping feeds, social media and videos. And these attacks succeeded when Australians completed the last step themselves by either clicking a link, scanning a QR code, approving a device pairing or entering a verification code. “Increasingly throughout 2025, scams did not announce themselves as threats. Phishing and online scams are not going away. In fact, they are increasing at an alarming rate, but security company Kaspersky has put together a range of tips on how users can protect themselves and avoid becoming a victim. In the first 10 months of 2025, Kaspersky identified around 6.4 million phishing attacks. These were impersonating online stores, payments systems and banks. The AI upgrade for Siri that we’ve been waiting 18 months for will now be powered by Google Gemini. Google and Apple released a joint statement announcing the partnership. It’s been one month since the social media ban came into effect in Australia and Meta has announced it has complied with the new law and removed more than 540,000 accounts in that period. But Meta says that while it abides by the law it doesn’t agree with it and the initial impact of the law suggests it’s not meeting its objectives or making young Australians any safer. One of the more interesting discoveries at the Consumer Electronics Show was an AI-powered robot chef called Nosh. Nosh is slightly larger than a microwave oven and can prepare more than 500 dishes. Roborock always save their major announcements for the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and this year was no exception. They created a fair amount of buzz around the show with the launch of the new Saros Rover robot vacuum. Outwardly, the Saros Rover looks like most other robot vacuums but there is one huge difference.
