Apple’s Shot on iPhone campaign has reached astronomical heights – literally. The crew of the Artemis II have captured and shared some stunning images of Earth taken from the Orion spacecraft taken with the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
NASA has shared the images on its website including a shot of astronauts Christine Koch and Reid Wiseman looking back towards Earth.
In one of Wiseman’s images you can see Australia albeit upside down.

We believe these images were taken with the front selfie camera of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Mission commander Reid Wiseman also shared his selfie on his X account.
There was even an image shared by NASA of crew member Jeremy Hansen using the iPhone 17 Pro Max selfie camera as a mirror while he was shaving.

NASA says the iPhones onboard Orion are only for capturing images and cannot connect to the internet.
The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections have been restricted.
The iPhones had to undergo a series of safety tests before they were cleared to be taken on the mission including looking for potential hazards including broken glass.

The New York Times reported Apple had no say in the planning or the selection of devices used for the mission.
But Apple would certainly be happy with the results that come just days after it celebrated its 50th birthday.
