Telstra releases its new rugged smartphone for tradies – the Tough Max 2

Telstra has unveiled its new Tough Max 2 smartphone – the toughened device designed to handle the rough stuff. It is ideal for tradies, construction workers, farmers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Version two of the device has a 5-inch display that is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass and with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720.

The device is powered by a 1.4Ghz octa-core processor and has 3GB RAM plus 32GB internal storage as well as a microSD card slot to expand the memory by an additional 128GB.

On the camera side, it has a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.

There is also a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel just below the camera for added security.

Naturally, the Tough Max 2 smartphone has a rugged construction so it’s scratch, shock and dropped resistant.

And it’s also rated at IP67 which means it is water and dust resistant as well.

It’s 14.6cm long, 7.2cm wide and 1.2cm thick and tips the scales at just 153g.

This product is designed to go where other devices fear to tread so tradies

and other outdoor workers can enjoy all the features of a regular phone without the need to treat it with kid gloves.

The device has physical front buttons and a programmable Super key so you can assign up to three functions which can be accessed with either a short press, long press or a double press.

Under the hood is a 3000mAh battery and also comes with Qi wireless charging.

The Tough Max 2 also has Quick Charge 2.0 on board.

And, of course, the rugged smartphone works on the fast Telstra 4GX  network.

The Telstra Tough Max 2 is available now at Telstra stores and JB Hi-Fi on a range of plans.
