Sonos introduces Arc soundbar with Dolby Atmos to enhance your home viewing experience

Sonos has just revealed its latest speaker – it’s called Arc and it’s a premium soundbar that utilises Sonos audio innovations to bring cinema quality sound to your home viewing experience.

With Arc, Sonos delivers the same quality and versatility that makes its speakers so popular with customers.

So it can not only offer a thrilling audio experience when watching TV but it can also stream your music, tap into internet radio and play your favourite podcasts as well.

Arc can be expanded to work with other Sonos speakers in the range including the Sub to add even more punch.

Smaller Sonos speakers can also be utilised as extra rear speakers.

Sonos Arc provides impressive detail, clear dialogue, deep bass and also supports Dolby Atmos which brings in a whole new layer of audio which will sound like its coming from above you.

Most of the streaming services, including Netflix, offer a lot of movies and TV shows with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack.

Most movies released on Blu-ray and 4K disc also include Dolby Atmos soundtracks.

“Home has never played a more important role in our lives and we’ve always been about making the home more enjoyable with great sounding products and new experiences. Arc brings the sounds of our favourite shows and artists to life like never before,” said Patrick Spence, Sonos CEO.

“Our goal is to make any room you have a television a place you can easily enjoy all of the great streaming video and music that exists today. Arc illustrates our commitment to brilliant sound and premium design and sets a new standard for soundbars.”

Under the hood the Sonos Arc has 11 high-performance drivers along with two which fire upward to provide the 3D sound effect of Dolby Atmos.

Arc can be optimised for your room and adjust its sound profile using the Sonos Trueplay tuning technology to deliver Dolby Digital 5.1 or Dolby Atmos.

The control even extends to enhancing speech to make vocals clearer along with night mode where you can still watch your movie late at night but with softened explosions so you don’t wake anyone up.

On the design side, the soundbar has a 270-degree rounded plastic grille – that’s why it’s called Arc – as well as a seamless exterior that fits elegantly in your home.

It is also available in black or white and can rest in front of the TV on an entertainment unit or be mounted on the wall below the mounted TV.

It connects with one HDMI cable or an optical cable.

Arc has been built on the new Sonos S2 software platform so you can control Arc from the new Sonos app or your existing TV remote, through Apple AirPlay 2 and also with your voice through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The Sonos Arc will go on sale on June 10 for $1,399 with pre-orders kicking off now.

Sonos has also updated its Sub ($999) and the Sonos Five speaker ($749).
