Philips Star Wars editions offer some of the closest shaves in the galaxy
Anything with the Star Wars brand on it will grab people’s attention. That is certainly the case with the new Philips Star Wars shavers which combines great grooming products with Star Wars flair and characters that will make them stand out from the crowd.
There are eight Philips Star Wars shavers in the range – the SW9700 ($499), the SW7700 ($399), the SW6700 ($269), the SW5750 ($219), the SW5710 ($189), The SW5700 ($189), the SW3700 ($129) and the SW170 ($119).
Each has a distinct Star Wars design and colour palette as well as symbols from the films with a price to suit every budget.
The SW7700 is white and light blue with indicator lights in the shape of the Millennium Falcon and a lightsaber.
The SW5720 is modelled after Kylo Ren and includes his mask near the power button and an indicator light in the shape of his lightsaber.
Moving down to the SW5710, you’ll have Captain Phasma in the palm of your hand.
The SW5700, SW3700 and the SWSW170 were inspired by BB8, R2D2 and the First Order stormtroopers respectively
Tech Guide took a look at two of the Philips Star Wars shavers – the SW9700 and the SW6700.
PHILIPS SW9700 – $499
This is the top-of-the-line Star Wars shaver with V Track PRO which includes 72 cell sharpening V-shaped blades which cut hair with less pulling.
It is definitely aligned with the Dark Side with a red and black colour scheme.
There is a First Order symbol on the handle and indicator lights in the shape of a star destroyer, Kylo Ren’s lightsaber and a TIE fighter.
The device has a contour detect head the can flex in eight different directions for great results.
You can also be used wet or dry and has three personal comfort settings to adapt to your skin type.
The cordless SW9700 offers more than 60 minutes of running time on a single charge which is more than 20 shaves.
You can be fully charged in one hour.
We found the product had a nice balance feel in our hands and provided a close shave despite our heavy beard.
There is also a SmartClick precision trimmer included to trim your moustache or your sideburns.
PHILIPS SW6700 – $269
Like the SW9700, this model has V-Track PRO and an eight-direction contour detect head and can also be used wet or dry.
The Philips Star Wars shaver has an X-Wing etched just below the power button along with indicator lights in the shape of the Resistance symbol.
It also has a weathered look and the same red and orange colouring of the X-Wing pilot uniforms.
On the shaving side, the SW6700 has SkinGlide Rings with anti-friction coating for a smoother glide and a close shave.
We normally shave with a blade but this model really impressed us with the quality of the shave along with the fact we could use it in the shower.
