Years ago we all dreamed about getting around with our very own jetpack. Now it has become a reality with the Martin Jetpack that will give you the freedom to take to the skies.
After years of research and development, the Martin Aircraft Company has utilised the latest technology to come up with this all-new mode of transportation.
The Martin Jetpack can be flown both manned and unmanned or as part of a “mule train” so you can either pilot it yourself or control it with a remote control.
The personal air transport craft looks like a giant drone with twin 210 horsepower rotary jet engines and a section for the pilot.
Naturally, recreational usage will be the primary attraction but there are also uses for first response, search and rescue and natural disaster recovery.
Oakley has partnered with the Martin Aircraft Company to create the world’s first flying golf cart to celebrate the return of golf to the Olympic Games in Rio.
Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson teamed up with Oakley to create “Bubba’s Hover” which has room for golf clubs, a sand bucket and everything else you need for a great round of golf.
And between shots you can get an amazing aerial view of the hole so you see the hazards up ahead along with the green.
The Martin Jetpack can carry up to 120kg of payload and runs on automotive gasoline.
It can fly for 30 minutes with a range of up to 50km depending on the conditions but it has a fuel reserve to fly even longer and further.
It is capable of reaching speeds up to 75km/h.
On the safety side there are plenty of layers including a ballistic parachute, an impact absorbing undercarriage, roll cage and enclosed motors.
Now while the Martin Jetpack is amazing new technology and, for many, the realization of a dream – it doesn’t come cheap.
Pricing starts at $270,000 with the first models becoming available in December 2017.
