Samsung has kicked off a beta program for its One UI 7 smartphone user interface which includes more powerful AI features, a new design and simplified controls.
The official One UI 7 release will kick off with the new Galaxy S 25 series of devices which are expected to be launched in February 2025.
The beta program will be first available for Galaxy S24 devices in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK and the US.
Australian S24 smartphone users can apply to join the beta programme via Samsung Members.
Samsung says the One UI 7 will be a huge leap forward in increasing the smartphone’s AI capabilities and providing a platform where AI interaction is natural and intuitive.
The new user interface will provide serious upgrades to Galaxy AI including advanced writing assist tools so users can increase their productivity without needing to jump between apps.
These new capabilities build on the existing options where users can summarise content, check spelling and grammar and automatically format their notes.
One UI 7 will also offer an improvement in communication and connection through call transcript which will support up to 29 languages.
Call recording will also be included with recorded calls automatically transcribed and eliminating the need to take notes during a call.
On the design side, the One UI 7’s interface will have a new look and will be centred around a new notification system.
It will be called Now Bar which will highlight features like interpreter, music, recording and stopwatch and provide some access to the most important notifications.
This means users will not need to constantly unlock their device to find out that key information.
Now Bar will be a central feature in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S 25 series.
One UI 7 will have less visual clutter and offer a much cleaner appearance to enable more intuitive interactions across the devices AI features.
There will also be a more simplified home screen and lock screen with the ability to customise every detail to your needs.
The camera user interface will also be redesigned and offer faster access to advanced settings with buttons, controls and modes also being reorganised to make it easier to find the features you need while giving you a clearer and larger preview of the picture you’re taking or the video you’re shooting.
