Google today unveiled its new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones which are powered by AI to deliver a better user experience along with the Google Home Hub, the company’s first smart device with a display.
The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have 5.5-inch and 6.3-inch high resolution displays respectively and will be available in three colours – Just Black, Clearly White and Not Pink.
Apart from the difference in screen size, both new Google Pixel 3 smartphones have exactly the same feature set and are also both IP68 water and dust resistant.
The camera onboard the new Google devices have really taken a leap forward thanks to the added layer of AI which can now help you take better pictures.
Top Shot is a new feature that uses AI to help you capture a better image and will wait till everyone is smiling and not blinking.
For your group selfies the Pixel 3 has also got you covered with a wider angle through the front camera.
Super Res Zoom uses computational photographic technology usually associated with astronomy and scientific imaging to produce a sharper zoomed image without the grain.

Night Sight also kicks out great low light images while Photobooth can automatically capture your selfies when the device sees you smiling or making a funny expression.
There’s also portrait mode which lets you adjust the background blur and even turn it to black and white while your subject is still in colour.
On the video side, the Pixel 3 also has Motion Auto Focus which ensures whatever you’re filming stays sharp and in focus automatically.

The new Google Pixel 3 smartphones now includes Digital Wellbeing – a range of tools that can tell you how often you use the device and also set time limits on certain apps.
The new Wind Down mode can also help you get off to sleep by gradually transitioning the display to grayscale.
Users can also flip to Shhh – a new mode activated by an easy gesture to turn on Do Not Disturb and reduce distractions.
Google has also introduced the Pixel Stand – a Qi-compliant wireless charger which turns the phone in to a smart visual and audio device like Google Home.
The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be priced at $1,199 and $1,399 respectively and are available for pre-order today and will be released on November 1 through Optus, Vodafone and Telstra as well JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and the Google Store.
The Pixel Stand will be priced at $119.
GOOGLE HOME HUB
The newest member of the Google Home family now has a display.
The 7-inch screen can now provide visual and audio information and also allow users to enjoy their photos and video.
The Hub has soft rounded corners and is designed to fit anywhere in your home.
It will be available in three colours – Chalk, Charcoal and Aqua & Sand.
Google decided to not include a camera so users can be comfortable placing the device anywhere including private spaces like a bedroom.
The Google Home Hub also has a light sensor so it can adjust to the room and also dim the screen when it’s time for bed.
It can also connect to your home’s smart devices and give you complete control using your voice.
It can also be used in the kitchen to provide recipes and create shopping lists and give you all the hands-free help you need.
The Google Home Hub is priced at $219.
It is available for pre-order now and goes on sale on October 23 from JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, The Good Guys, Optus, Vodafone and Google Store (colour availability will vary).
