The future of the smartphone – is it foldable or rollable?

2019 will be known as the year of the folding smartphone. Several companies will be introducing foldable devices that will take the traditional smartphone form factor in a completely new direction.

Huawei has become the latest company to confirm it will be unveiling a foldable 5G device this year.

It will unveil the product at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

This follows on from expected releases from Samsung, Xiaomi and Motorola.

We’ve already seen the world’s first foldable smartphone at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas – the Royole Flex Pai.

But what does the future hold?
