Apple’s new iPhone XR went on sale today in Apple Stores in Australia – the first Apple Stores in the world to offer the company’s latest multi-coloured device.
But the massive crowds we usually see at an iPhone launch were not there today.
When the doors opened there were 16 people in the line.
Less than an hour before the 8am opening of the flagship Sydney Apple Store in George St there was no one in line.
It appears more people decided to pre-order the device and have it delivered to their door today rather than brave the elements and line up at the store.
The colour choice was also another reason why people probably decided to pre-order the iPhone XR.
With six colours to choose from, the majority of customers chose to pre-order the iPhone XR to ensure they got the colour they wanted.

It was a different story a month ago when the premium iPhone Xs went on sale.

Hundreds of customers turned out to be among the first to get their hands on the product.
Today there was a steady stream of people coming in to the Apple Store after the 8am opening to buy the iPhone XR.
The first person in line today was Rosa Van De Pol from Bankstown.

She lined up to buy a black iPhone XR for her husband as a birthday present.
