Amazon’s Echo devices already offer a shortcut to our music and Alexa but now they can be used to improve the wi-fi in your home.
Customers with eero routers will now be able to transform their Echo devices into eero mesh wi-fi extenders.
If you have compatible Echo products these can add up to 92 square metres of coverage to the current eero network and support speeds of up to 100Mbps for 10 or fewer connected devices in the 5Ghz band.
This added connectivity means users can browse more freely as well as stream 4K content, make HD video calls and play online games with fewer less buffering and fewer dead spots.
Users with an eero network can link their Echo devices in their Amazon account and enable eero Built-In.
If your account is already linked, it will automatically detect Echo devices on your network that are compatible to use as wi-fi extenders on your network.
Users can also manage which Echo devices they would like to use as their wi-fi extenders using the eero app.
The new eero Built-In feature can consolidate a home’s network and make it easier to stream music using compatible Echo devices in different rooms in your home and expand your existing wi-fi coverage.
Eero Built-In works at no additional cost and is suitable for all current eero systems including the new eero Pro 6E and eero Max 7 and works with existing Echo products including the Echo Dot (4th and 5th Gen), Echo (4th Gen), Echo Dot with Clock (4th and 5th Gen) and Echo Pop.
