Fitbit launches Ionic – a new water resistant sport smartwatch

Fitbit has just unveiled its brand-new fitness wearable –  the Fitbit Ionic –  which is a sport smartwatch that offers personal coaching, a built in GPS, heart rate monitor and it is water resistant to 50m.

The device will be available in Australia in October and will be priced at $449.95.

Fitbit Ionic has a moulded unibody that is made out of strong and lightweight aerospace- grade aluminium.

It has a high-res touchscreen with the brightness of up to 1000 nits so it is easy to view day or night whenever you’re working out.

Users will receive personalised workouts that play on the screen and guide you every step of the way.

These routines are built on your feedback so you’re always at the right level for your workout.

The built-in GPS means you can track your run or bike ride and see your pace, distance and other important information on the display.

The GPS antenna is built into the Fitbit Ionic watch casing for a stronger and more accurate connection to the satellites.

And the on-board Purepulse heart rate monitor can tell you in real time whether you’re in the right training zone whether it’s fat burn or cardio.

You can also take Ionic for a swim thanks to the water resistant construction.

Even if you forget to record it, SmartTrack has got your back and can recognise when you’re on a run, walk or having a swim.

The device has a four-day battery life when used in normal mode and 10 hours when using GPS

Fitbit Ionic also has built-in storage with enough room to store more than 300 songs so you can have your music with you without the need to carry your phone.
