Samsung has launched its new Galaxy Book S – a new always-connected mobile computing device with an ultra-slim design and a battery life that will last for days.

The Galaxy Book has a lot in common with a smartphone – it has the same mobility and connectivity – and combines that with the power of a PC.

The device has a SIM card slot and offers 4G LTE connectivity so, like your smartphone, it will always be connected and provide internet access without having to stop and look for wi-fi or use a portable hotspot.

Galaxy Book S uses a new mobile computing platform created by Qualcomm – the Snapdragon 8cx – which is designed to be fanless and remain cool no matter how hard you’re working.

It is powered by Window 10 and also has touch to wake capabilities so it is always on like a smartphone and ready to use in an instant.

On the design side, the Samsung Galaxy Book S has a 13.3-inch multi-touch display and has a uniquely arched frame and ultra-thin form factor at just 11.8mm.

It has been strengthened with an anodization process on the outer layer.

And not only does it not have the bulk of a regular laptop, it is also light with a weight of just 961g.

The Samsung Galaxy Book S battery will also run for up to 25 hours.

The device has 8GB RAM and up to 512GB storage which is expandable through a microSD card slot.

“The Galaxy Book S creates a new proposition for our Australian customers seeking the best in Samsung mobile computing, LTE connectivity, and in the format of a Windows 10 powered laptop,” Garry McGregor, Vice-President of IT and Mobile, Samsung Electronics Australia, said.

“The Galaxy Book S is a sleek, powerful and beautifully designed connected laptop that will also provide great battery life throughout the day. It’s an excellent device to empower Australians to always be connected while they work from almost any location, whether it’s out on the road, at the airport, or when roaming overseas.”

“Samsung is dedicated to providing a seamless, connected mobile experience for our customers across our portfolio of devices. The Galaxy Book S represents our evolving proposition to combine productivity, design and powerful computing to support our customers.

“Australians expect connected technology to operate seamlessly throughout their day. The Galaxy Book S is a productivity powerhouse that is perfectly suited for ambitious, on-the-go Australians who don’t have a moment to waste.”

The Samsung Galaxy Book S will be available in two colours – Earthy Gold and Mercury Gray.

It will be priced at $1,699 and will go on sale on January 31 through JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Samsung retail and Samsung.com.
