Modern technology gives us many things.

New WD My Passport SSD puts up to 2TB of high speed storage in the palm of your hand

Western Digital Group has unveiled the new WD My Passport SSD – a compact and sleek solid state drive – which is available in capacities up to 2TB and with super-fast read and write speeds.

The WD My Passport has a sleek and compact metal design that is small enough fit in the palm of your hand or your pocket.

But while it’s small, the WD My Passport SSD can still handle daily use and your regular bumps and scrapes.

It has built-in shock and vibration resistance and can handle drops from a height of up to 1.98m

Onboard is NVMe technology which can ramp up read speeds up to 1,050MB/s and write speeds of 1000MB/s.

The SSD drive can connect to Macs and PCs with the included USB-C to USB-C cable but also includes a USB-C to USB-A adaptor to ensure a connection to virtually every modern computer.

The WD My Passport SSD is useful for having their files and content libraries with them all time.

And if you’re a creator like a photographer or videographer you’ll be able to move your content and edit on the go.

The metal design is a standout and it’s available in a range of colours – grey, blue, red and gold.

“The new My Passport SSD delivers the speed, reliability and functionality consumers have come to expect from us,” said Susan Park, vice president, Consumer Solutions, Western Digital.

“It is a powerful and sophisticated solution for the everyday content creators, curators and hobbyists who need to move files quickly.

“The rounded corners, waving ridges and soft edges enhance the My Passport SSD’s portability and make it easy to carry, yet also distinctly recognisable as a member within WD’s award-winning My Passport product line-up.”

On the security side, the WD My Passport SSD also has 256-bit encryption to ensure your files are safe.

Customers who purchase the SSD drive will also receive software to make it even easier to back up their large files to a hard drive or the cloud.

The product is also backed by a five-year warranty

The WD My Passport SSD will be available in 500GB ($189), 1TB ($319) and 2TB ($629) capacities.

They will be available from September 30 from Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks and Amazon. Other colours will be released later this year.
