The HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e all-in-one printer series is perfect for the home office at a time when having a workspace in your home has become more important than ever.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e AIO printer (priced at $279) on its own is impressive with high print quality for documents and photos, automatic two-sided copy and scan and a fast-printing speed of up to 22 pages per minute.
We still print quite a bit – everything from our podcast rundowns and recipes to photos to put in frames.
What sets the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e AIO printer apart is the compatibility with the HP+ intelligent cloud-based ecosystem that brings so many more features and conveniences to your fingertips.
It makes the all-in-one printer even smarter and even more useful, connecting the printer to your home network and to the cloud.
We spend as much time on our smartphones and tablets as we do on our computers and knowing we can print to the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e AIO makes printing that much easier.
What makes all that easier is the HP Smart App which streamlines that wireless connection to the printer and our ability to print whatever we need no matter what device we’re using.
And by signing up to HP+ (you can easily sign up while setting up the printer), you are also provided with a 6-month trial to Instant Ink which can monitor your ink levels remotely and ensure ink cartridges are delivered to your doorstep before you run out.
There have been times when we’ve gone to print out something for ourselves or someone else in our family and found that we’d run out of ink.
That’s not the best feeling at 11pm knowing you can’t just dash up to the shops to buy expensive cartridge replacements.
HP Instant Ink ensures we have new cartridges before you need it. So those late-night panic attacks over not having enough ink will be a thing of the past.
And it also does take the environment into consideration. The HP+ service supports smart sustainability with Forest First prints and cartridge recycling.
And with the HP Smart app (free on the App Store for iOS and Google Play Store for Android) all the printer’s features are literally at your fingertip no matter where you are.
The HP Smart App also offers a seamless connection to your Mac or PC, whether you’re sending documents wirelessly to be printed or viewing scanned documents.
The app makes it easier to print documents and photos from any device, including your mobile device where most of your photos would be located.
That means your great photos don’t have to just sit on your smartphone – you can easily print it in high quality so you can put in a frame and display it for all to see.
You can also scan a document or photo with your smartphone’s camera through the app and print it.
There’s a section called Printables which offers a selection of items that you can print including greeting cards, games, calendars, crafts and even colouring fun for your kids.
This got us out of trouble once again – we were able to print out one of the birthday cards to attach to a gift.
The printer itself has a 35-page automatic document feeder so you can scan a document hands-free.
This helps for those times when you turn a physical document into a digital document – even if there are many pages.
And to save paper, users can also opt for two-sided printing.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e can also convert scanned files to editable text for .pdf, .docx and .txt files.
We were able to take advantage of this when we’d found a document but not the original digital file – so we just scanned the document again and had a new file with the text.
Diving deeper into the specs, the 9010e has a print resolution of 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi (dots per inch) and can print up 22 minutes per minute in black and white and up to 18ppm in colour.
For scanning, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e all-in-one can scan up to 8 pages per minute at 200dpi in black and white and colour.
And on the copying side, the printer can copy in black and white or colour at up to 32 pages per minute.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e is also a fully-fledged fax machine. Yes, there are still people who require the security, reliability and efficiency of a fax.
You can send a fax using the HP Smart app.
Setting up the printer is a fairly simple process so you can be up and running in minutes.
The instructions are all displayed on the LCD screen so you can easily insert the ink cartridges and calibrate them.
The HP Smart app also plays a part in the set-up so you can connect the printer to your wi-fi network and ensure it’s always available when you need it.
And when you sign up to HP+ (which can be done through the app) you are automatically added to Instant Ink and get up to six months included with HP+. After 6 months, monthly fee applies unless cancelled.
We’ve already received a notification that our first shipment of cartridges is on the way.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e and the HP+ ecosystem of features and services makes it a very powerful solution that proves you can work smarter not harder.
