Tesla opens official orders and configurator for Model 3 in Australia

Tesla has officially opened orders for its upcoming Model 3 in Australia with deliveries of the smaller and more affordable electric vehicle expected from August.

The new Model 3 configurator is open to existing reservation holders and the general public.

Pricing will start at $66,000 excluding on road costs and delivery fees.

Priorities will be given to existing reservation holders and will also be determined by delivery location and configuration options.

Customers have the choice between the Standard and Performance models of the car.

The Standard model will have a range of 460km with an acceleration from 0 to 100km/h at 5.6 seconds.

The Performance Model 3 will have an extended range of 560km and will take just 3.4 seconds to go from 0 to 100km/h.

The driveaway price for the Standard Model 3 starts at $72,120.

The Performance range model will have a driveway price starting at $95,769.

The Tesla Model 3 configurator allows your choice of five colours – solid black, midnight silver metallic (extra $1,400), deep blue metallic (extra $1,400), pearl white multi-coat (extra $2,100) and red multi-coat (extra $2,100).

There is also only one choice of the 18 inch Aero Wheels and an all-black interior.

Customers who opt for the Performance upgrade package for an additional $6200 will receive 20 inch performance wheels, performance brakes, a carbon fibre spoiler, lowered suspension, aluminium alloy pedals and an increased top speed from 233km/h to 261 km/h.

To enable supercharging for the Model 3 in Australia it will come with a CCS Combo 2 charge port with dual charging cables supporting both CCS Combo 2 and Type 2 charging standards will be installed across supercharger sites around the country.

As with other Tesla models, the Model 3 will receive over-the-air software updates to introduce new features and functionality over the life of the car.

Included with the Model 3 is Autopilot which enables the car to steer and accelerate and break for other vehicles and pedestrians within its lane.

Customers who order the Model 3 Performance will also receive the premium interior package which includes satellite view maps with live traffic visualisation navigation, a premium 14 speaker audio system and in-car internet streaming music and media.

Also on board is a 12-way power adjustable front and rear heated seats, LED fog lamps, centre console with storage, four USB ports and docking for two smart phones along with the location where automatic garage door opener.

All Model 3s come with auto dimming power folding heated side mirrors, Bluetooth and custom driver profiles.

Model 3 owners will also have access to 27 supercharger locations and more than 600 destination charging locations across Australia with more being rolled out each month.
