Apple has released a software update for the AirPods Max that now brings lossless audio and ultra-low latency audio to the headphones.
With the included USB-C to USB-C cable with the latest version of AirPods Max listeners can connect the cable between the headphones and their iPhone, iPad or Mac and enjoy the highest quality audio 24-bit, 48kHz lossless audio.
And you can really hear the difference.
There’s an added layer of depth and quality at every level and a nice improvement in the bass.
But you need to have the cable connection between the headphones and your device because Bluetooth doesn’t support lossless audio.
When you link AirPods Max to your phone via Bluetooth you can still play a lossless track but you’re not getting the full quality that song has to offer.
Apple Music has more than 100 million songs in lossless audio to enjoy.
Gamers and live streamers will also appreciate the AirPods Max ultra-low latency which noticeably lowers the lag time to the point where is the same as listening through the built-in speakers.
But lossless audio and ultra-low latency with AirPods Max is not just for listening to music, it can also be used by musicians with Logic Pro to create and mix their audio in lossless quality, personalised Spatial Audio as well as high resolution digital audio with low latency without compromising fidelity.
Apple has just released the new USB-C to 3.5mm audio cable which connects AirPods Max to audio sources so they can be used for mixing, production and podcasting.
