ASUS unveils new range of powerful and super thin laptops and convertibles


ASUS has revealed its sophisticated new range of products that include a wafer-thin laptop, a versatile tablet and a handy convertible with all of them designed to appeal to a wide range of customers.

ASUS unveiled the ZenBook 3 laptop, Transformer Pro 3 and the ZenBook Flip UX360 which all boast the latest Intel Core processors and USB-C connectivity.

The company says each of the products are the result of years of research and development to achieve the svelte form factors while still delivering high performance.

ASUS ZENBOOK 3 – from $2,699

The ASUS ZenBook 3 is just 11.9mm thick, weighs a featherweight 910g and has a footprint that’s smaller than a piece of A4 paper.

But despite its tiny dimensions, the ZenBook 3 has a seventh generation Intel Core i7 processor with 8GB of high-speed RAM and 512GB solid state drive (SSD) under the hood.


It is made of aircraft grade aluminium which makes it both light and strong.

The product also has a 12.5-inch full high definition display with edge to edge Corning Gorilla Glass 4 along with a 178-degree viewing angle and 1000:1 contrast.

A real achievement for the product is the cooling system that had to be re-engineered to fit the product – it’s just 3mm thick with cooling pipes as thin as a razor blade.


It has a larger trackpad which now also includes a fingerprint scanner to make it easier to log in and unlock the device.

On the audio side, the ASUS ZenBook 3 has four speakers that have been tuned by experts from Harman Kardon.


There is also a single USB-C port that can handle both power and data.

ASUS TRANSFORMER 3 PRO – from $1,699

The ASUS Transformer 3 Pro is a two-in one tablet device that takes a leaf out of the Microsoft Surface Pro book.

It is just 8.6mm thick with a weight of 790g and has a 12.6-inch screen with 275ppi (pixels per inch) that offers super fine detail.


It is powered by a sixth generation Intel Core i7 processor with up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB SSD.

Also onboard is a USB-C port with Thunderbolt 3, a USB 3.0 port and a full size HDMI port.

The tablet device is running Windows 10 and also comes with a high-precision stylus with 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity so you can write or draw on the screen as easily as you would on a piece of paper.


Also included in the package is a keyboard cover which means you can turn the device into a laptop in a second. The keys on the cover are also backlit.

On the rear panel of the Transformer 3 Pro is a kick stand that can be positioned at a number of angles an ensure a comfortable viewing angle for work or play.

ASUS ZENBOOK FLIP UX360UA – from $1,699

This 13.3-inch device has a versatile 360-degree flippable display so it can be used as a laptop, as a tablet and positioned in viewing mode.


It is the first ASUS ZenBook Flip model to include an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor so it powerful enough for work, games and entertainment.

The product has a unibody chassis hewn from a single block of aluminium with a lid that features the ASUS spun-metal finish.


On the connectivity side, you’ll find two USB ports, a USB-C port and a full sized HDMI port.

This new ASUS range is available now from Harvey Norman and Bing Lee as well through select computer channels.
