How LockSmart has brought the humble padlock into the 21st century

Australian tech company Dog & Bone has reinvented the humble key and combination padlock and brought it into the 21st century with an all-new patented Bluetooth device called LockSmart.

LockSmart is a tough, all-weather padlock that uses your smartphone as the key via Bluetooth.

Users can now have keyless access to one or multiple LockSmart padlocks through one convenient app.

Instead of carrying keys or trying to remember combinations, the LockSmart padlock from Dog & Bone can secure your gate, shed, locker, bike and more.

And because LockSmart is controlled through the iOS or Android, it means you can track when the padlock is unlocked.

It is even possible to share access to unlock the LockSmart padlock either locally or remotely.

This means users can instantly unlock padlocks securing sheds and gates from across the world instead of being home to unlock the front gate for a tradesman, gardener or pool cleaner.

“Security, access and management are issues we all face with the dated key and combination lock,” said Maria Ranchod, Dog & Bone co-founder.

“LockSmart is much more than a padlock. Importantly, it is secure. Conveniently, it means carrying no keys.

“But at the same time, it simplifies the process of access management with the ability to exchange ‘virtual keys’.

“I can share access instantly, track when my lock is accessed and remove access just as quickly, even if I’m physically miles away.”

LockSmart has 128-bit encryption – the highest security for Bluetooth – but there’s also the option of unlocking the padlock with Touch ID on an iPhone, with a passcode or just by touching icon.

The LockSmart padlock is powered by a lithium-ion battery that can run for up to two years or 3000 unlocks before it needs to recharged through the microUSB hidden by a weatherproof seal.

There are two LockSmart padlock models – an 8mm hardened steel shackle with die-cast Zamak-3 zinc alloy body ($US89.95, available now) or the mini keyless 7mm shackle ($US69.95, available December).

They can be ordered from www.dogandbonecases.com.
