Apple released a new faster iPad Air with its M3 silicon which makes the device compatible with Apple Intelligence and sporting new abilities and improved performance.
The iPad Air with M3 will be available in 11-inch and 13-inch models and will go on sale on March 12.
The iPad Air – the device that sits between the iPad and iPad Pro – has been supercharged so it can handle high-end and graphics-intensive apps and games.
This model is 3.5x faster than the iPad Air powered by the A14 Bionic.
The iPad Air with M3 has noticeable improvements even over the previous M1 model.
It has an 8-core CPU (35 per cent faster than M1) and a 9-core GPU (40 per cent faster than M1).
“iPad Air is so popular because of its unmatched combination of powerful performance, portability, and support for advanced accessories, all at an affordable price,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
“For everyone from college students taking notes with Apple Pencil Pro, to travellers and content creators who need powerful productivity on the go, iPad Air with M3, Apple Intelligence, and the new Magic Keyboard take versatility and value to the next level.”
The Neural Engine in M3 (60 per cent faster than M1) in the iPad Air also unleashes AI capabilities with support for Apple Intelligence.
With Apple Intelligence, iPad Air users now have access to writing tools, image playground, Clean Up in photos and Image Wand in Notes.
Siri has also been enhanced and is more conversational and responsive and is now integrated with ChatGPT.
Also available for the iPad Air is a new Magic Keyboard for both the 11-inch and 13-inch models which attaches magnetically and offers a Smart Connector for power and data sharing.
Apple has also updated the iPad with the A16 chip to offer a noticeable improvement in performance – but it does not have Apple Intelligence.
The new iPad Air with M3 goes on sale on March 12 and is priced from $999 for the 11-inch and $1,349 for the 13-inch.
The iPad Air Magic Keyboard is priced at $449 (11-inch) and $469 (13-inch).
