When premium audio brand Bowers & Wilkins puts the Signature label on its loudspeakers, audiophiles stand at attention. This month was one of those rare occasions with the launch of two new products in the Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series range – the stand-mount 705 Signature and the floor-standing 702 Signature.
There new products have a common philosophy with the previous Signature models which represent the peak of the brand’s design and engineering.
The new Bowers & Wilkins Signature speakers have improved audio and a beautiful finish to the luxurious new cabinet.
The Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series were introduced in 2017 and made use of technologies from its high-end 800 Series Diamond including the Solid Body Tweeter-On-Top assembly, Continuum cone drivers and Aerofoil profile bass drivers.
These are used in combination with 700 Series technologies like Carbon Dome tweeter plus rigid, optimised cabinets.
And what you get in the end is a speaker that’s not only nice to listen to but also nice to look at as well.
The new 705 and 702 Signature speakers have also been further improved with upgraded crossover designs and components.
Both models also include upgraded bypass capacitors and larger heat-sinking.
In the case of the 702, it has an upgraded LF capacitor on the bass section of the crossover.
These speakers also have a Tweeter-On-Top configuration to improve the already incredible resolution, openness and spatial retrieval results in a more refined and polished sound.
Tech Guide took a listen to the 702 and 702 Signature speakers and it was like the performer was in the room with us.
The superior high fidelity sound revealed every single detail of the singer’s voice, the instruments and the entire performance.
The 702 and 705 Signature speakers have a new Datuk Gloss ebony-coloured veneer with a stunning grain pattern.
Each cabinet is custom designed and hand-crafted with sustainably-sourced wood from Italian wood company Alpi.
And each speaker is unique – no two are alike.
Bowers & Wilkins adds nine coats of finish including primer, base coat and lacquer to create a deep and lustrous look.
The speakers also include metal trim rings around the mid/bass and midrange cones. The speakers also have a Signature identity plate which makes each speaker a unique piece.
