The Samsung Galaxy Fold – the company’s first foldable smart phone – will go on sale in Australia on October 30 and will be priced at $2,999.
It will be one of the most expensive smartphones ever sold in Australia.

”Australians today are embracing larger screens as they consume, capture, share, and do more on-the-go. From the moment you pick it up and unfold it, the Galaxy Fold unlocks a completely new large-screen experience.”
The device has a 4.6-inch front screen and, when it opened like a book, also offers a 7.3 inch Dynamic AMOLED display.
This larger display area allows users to enjoy their content on a grander scale, browse websites as you would on a tablet or a laptop and also run three apps at the same time thanks to the 12GB RAM onboard.
There is also a continuity feature which takes whatever you’re doing from one screen and transfers it exactly to the other when you either open or close the device.
You may be looking at a map, for example, on the front 4.6-inch screen and when the device is opened up it will automatically display the same part of the map on the larger display.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold has a sturdy build quality and a specially-designed hinge to allow the screen to fold and unfold flawlessly.
The device was unveiled back in February alongside the Samsung Galaxy S10 in San Francisco.
There were some issues with the device a couple of months later when it was given to early reviewers in the US including peeling off what appeared to be screen protector as well as degree getting under the top layer of the display.
As a result, Samsung had to redesign parts of the phone and also push back the release date.
But Samsung has assured customers these issues have been addressed.
The version that will be released in Australia is the updated device which Samsung redesigned to ensure these use issues wouldn’t come up again.
Tech Guide had a hands on look at the device at the recent IFA tech tradeshow in Berlin.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold will be priced at $2,999 and will go on sale in October 30.
