Netgear wants to bring the smart home to everyone and has launched a range of new wireless products at CES to connect us to our content, to other products and to each other.
The new products include the VueZone wireless home monitoring camera, the NetTV Prime streaming player, the Universal Dual Band WiFi Range Extender, Wall-plug Edition and an 802.11ac ADSL modem/router.
At the Netgear press conference at the International Consumer Electronics Show, company founder and CEO Patrick Lo says connectivity in the home has never been more in demand than it is right now.
“Netgear has always been dedicated to helping you simply do more with your home network, and thanks to new mobile devices that work in the cloud, your connectivity options have expanded from fundamental to fantastic,” Mr Lo said.
“This year at CES, we shine a spotlight on how we’re ensuring seamless connectivity and control of your home network.
“This includes more products that take advantage of the cloud to incorporate mobile controls and apps so that you can monitor, set, manage and do more, wherever you are — and with the performance, ease-of-use and reliability that you’ve come to expect from Netgear.”
VUEZONE
VueZone is a small wireless battery operated camera that can be positioned anywhere in the home or office and monitored through the Android or iPhone app or via a web browser.
The device can record live video and snapshots and be used to keep an eye on your home, on your children, on your pets or on your office.
VueZone can also be set up to send email notifications if it detects movement.
The camera can be positioned quickly and easily without the need to snake any cables using a magnetic mount that can be attached in seconds.
There are also weatherproof mounting accessories so VueZone can be utilised inside and out.
Today Netgear announced a new Night Vision VueZone camera so it can now be used day or night.
NEOTV PRIME WITH GOOGLE TV (GTV100)
NeoTV Prime is a streaming player that can turn your existing TV into a smart TV to view your own content as well as content from web and other music and video streaming services.
The device also has Google TV on board which opens up a whole new world of options including apps, music, videos and web browsing.
NeoTV comes with a two-sided remote with a full keyboard on one side for easier searches and web browsing while the other side has a track pad and regular controls.
The device also lets you perform a cross platform search for movies and other content across a range of services.
There is also another model of NeoTV which incorporates the technology introduced by Sling Player which allows users to access and stream in real-time their TV, set-top box and recording from anywhere in the world.
UNIVERSAL DUAL BAND Wi-Fi RANGE EXTENDER WALL PLUG (WN3500RP)
Netgear has taken its wall plug wi-fi range extenders to the next level with a dual band edition.
The device can extend the reach of your network to allow you to use your devices in more areas of your home.
The WN3500RP can also physically connect to other devices like stereos through the 3.5mm audio jack or to a gaming console, Blu-ray Player or other device via the USB or Ethernet port.
Netgear Universal Dual Band Wi-Fi Range Extender can also be used in a cradle on a flat surface if you didn’t want to use it as a wall plug.
Also included is AirPlay to stream content from iPhones and iPads and DLNA for wireless audio streaming from Android devices.
D6200 Wi-Fi DSL MODEM ROUTER
Netgear is expanding its line of 802.11ac products to allow connections up to three times faster than 802.11n.
The D6200 is the first ADSL2+ modem and router in one with 802.11ac for improved speed and range.
