Aspera launches AS5 feature-packed smartphone for just $99
Aspera has launched the AS5 – a new and affordable smartphone with a 5-inch display, face recognition security and a removeable battery that’s priced at just $99.
Aspera is best known for simple entry level devices with physical keypads, rugged phones for use in workplaces and the outdoors and affordable smartphones.
The device is aimed at younger users and budget conscious customers, but it will also be suitable for older users looking to purchase a simple and affordable smartphone.
The AS5 4G smartphone is powered by an Octa-Core 1.6Ghz CPU 2GB RAM and 32GB internal memory and up to 1GB virtual RAM allotted from unused memory when needed to improve performance.
It also has a microSD card slot so you can expand the onboard memory to up to 128GB.
The device has a 5-inch 16:9 FWVGA display and is running the Android 13 operating system.
AS5 4G has two physical SIM card slots so you can put a private and work SIM in the same device or a travel SIM if you’re on holiday.
The Aspera smartphone is not locked to any network, so customers are free to put any SIM card in the device from any Australian carrier or MVNO (mobile virtual network operator).
On the camera side there’s a 5-megapixel rear and front facing camera.
The device can be secured with face recognition – a feature rarely seen on budget phones like the AS5 4G – so you can unlock the phone simply by looking at it.
It is powered by a 2000mAh lithium ion battery that is also removable.
“We were delighted to celebrate our tenth year as a fully Australian owned and operated business this year,” says Aspera Mobile MD Allan Robertson.
“To mark the occasion we are launching our new range of phones starting with the AS5 4G smartphone for just $99.
“For the AS5 we are offering many of the features that are included on higher priced smartphones and thus by definition redefining what is possible at this price point.”
The new Aspera Mobile AS5 4G smartphone is priced at $99 and available now from retailers including Big W, Ritchies IGA, Seasons IGA, Freedom Fuels, Trinity Petroleum, Mobiciti and Personal Digital.
